Gather at the clubrooms at 5:30pm, to be on the water and under way by 5:45pm.
These sessions are focused on technique, to give you the most efficient stroke whether you're a multisport, sprint, marathon or ski paddler, or sea kayaker. Our coaches will work with whatever level you're at now, but we'd expect you to have some basic competence in the boat (we're aiming to teach you to paddle properly, not how to paddle).
We'll cap numbers at 6 paddlers per coach, so please register: https://arawacanoeclub.setmore.com/
Priority will go to Arawa members, but if you're not a member sign up for a session and we'll see what we can do to get you into a session.
The Weed Catchers group leaves the club at 545pm sharp every Thursday, with a warm up paddle to the first bridge. Come along for some interval training in an encouraging environment. We welcome all abilities.
Sessions are led by passionate paddling volunteers, and participation is free!
Our beginner coaching sessions provide an introduction to paddling and are targeted at those who are interested in getting involved in recreational paddling, or competitive events such as the Classic River Race or Coast to Coast. To participate in these free sessions you must book a space using our online booking system: https://arawacanoeclub.setmore.com/class
Come down to the club for a long session on Sunday morning. On the water at 8am, off the water at 10am, go as far as you dare in that time!
Regroup for coffee and a heated discussion about the merits of this race versus that race, or this paddler versus that paddler, or whether your dog is smarter than that other dog. We'll try Under the Red Verandah this time around.
We aim to support people of all abilities. If you require special support or assistance, please feel free to contact us to discuss your needs prior to joining a training session.
